As part of the initiative “A designer for the Enterprise” ZEST presented at the Triennale in Milan on November 20th, 2012 the first mock up of the project GreenbO2x, GreenbO2x is a highly innovative urban design product, conceived as part of a wider smart city project, with two souls, a green soul and a digital soul, that allow a direct interaction between the individual and her/his surrounding environment.
The name “GreenbO2x” sums up the essence of the project: GREEN because of its low environmental impact; bO2x refers to the embedded greenhouse, whose main function is to transform pollutants and CO2 into clean components and oxygen (O2). The project unfolds under the Smart City principles: (1) brings accessible technology and a high degree of interaction to all citizens, (2) involves them in data collection and in the management of information through simple, easy-to-access solutions. Thanks to its eco-friendly soul, the project can easily meet the need of public institutions to adopt new interactive communication tools with their citizen. It triggers a high level interaction with users/citizens and allows real-time exchange of multimedia contents. Moreover, the system is perfect to enhance the quality of services offered to tourists, since it provides an avatar, ie. a virtual assistant that offers multilanguage assistance.
Thanks to the initiative “A designer for the Enterprise”, the design was assiegned to the four main designers’ schools in Milan: Naba, IED, Domus Academy and Politecnico, competing with each other for the presentation of a project. The solution chosen – the one proposed by Mattia Fossati from the Politecnico – was presented at the exhibition organized by Material ConneXion and the Chamber of Commerce of Milan, who nominated GreenbO2x as the best project of eco-environmental sustainability.
